One thing we really had going for us during this trip was the dramatic skies.

This was one of those "run and gun" captures that I made while heading into the ride. If I had the chance to recompose the shot, I probably would have gotten down low to the ground, more over to the right and shot up with a slight tilt. Oh well, next time.

Explored - #245 on 10/6/09 -Thanks, everyone!

Rex Hotel Saigon

Rex Hotel Saigon

My son Ian and I met in Saigon just before Christmas 2007. He met me with a driver at Tan Son Nhat airport and we went back to the Rex, where we had a room. Ian had been traveling and scuba diving in Thailand and Malaysia and we thought the end of his journey would be a good time to meet in Vietnam. It was a good opportunity to see each other and allow me to go back to Vietnam for the first time since 1969. The Rex is a good hotel in a great location. There is a lot to see within walking distance. The hotel arranged for cars and drivers for our side trips and did a good job. The rooftop bar view and the buffet breakfast were very good. The communist government owns the hotel but charges capitalist prices. Nice tacky avant garage style room for $110US. The building was originally a parking garage, remodeled as US military accomodations during the war.

BARILOCHE, in Río Negro province, in Argentina's patagonia ~ Original = (1118 x 753)

Los mas reputados son: el Centro Civico, proyecto del arquitecto Ernesto De Estrada, que albergaba una biblioteca, un teatro, un museo, el edificio de la Municipalidad con su torre con reloj, la oficina de correos y telegrafos, la policia y la aduana;
